The BELON filter is a pleated layer of electrokinetic nanofiber paper with activated carbon, made in the USA together with a leading filter developer. It screws into the funnel and is replaced as one piece.
Most contaminants in water carry a slight electrical charge. The fibers in the paper carry the opposite charge, so contaminants are drawn to the fibers and held there as water passes through. This is what lets an open, fast-flowing paper capture particles smaller than a micron under gravity alone. Activated carbon is added to the paper to reduce chlorine.
Tested to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 protocols through an accredited certification body. The filter reduces chlorine, lead and microplastics to levels that meet the NSF/ANSI requirements, and leaves the minerals in. BELON is not yet certified. The full reports are on the Lab Data page.
