TEST DATA

BELON is tested to NSF/ANSI standards through IAPMO R&T, an accredited certification body. These are the performance tests certification is built on. They measure how well the filter actually filters. Every report is published here in full.

BELON is not yet certified. Full certification adds materials safety testing on every component that touches water, review of every claim we publish, factory audits and annual re-verification. We plan to certify BELON. It takes time and real investment.

WHO RUNS THESE TESTS

NSF/ANSI standards are public. Three accredited bodies test and certify against them: NSF International, IAPMO R&T and WQA. A certification from any of the three carries the same standing. BELON's testing runs through IAPMO R&T.

MICROPLASTICS

Tested in accordance with NSF/ANSI 42, Class I particulate filtration — particles 0.5 to <1 micron, smaller than any particle defined as a microplastic. This is the protocol NSF designates as the basis for microplastics reduction claims.

Test date: August 2026

Reduction level: 99.7% or greater, across two production units.

LEAD

Tested in accordance with NSF/ANSI 53, Lead Reduction, in two waters, pH 6.5 and pH 8.5, sampled through 200% of the filter’s rated 50-gallon life, which the standard requires for a filter without a change indicator. At pH 8.5 part of the lead is carried as fine particles, the harder of the two conditions.

Test date: August 10 – September 24, 2026

Result: Under the standard’s 5 µg/L limit at every sample point through 100 gallons, in both waters, across two production units. At pH 6.5, below the lab’s detection limit at every point. At pH 8.5, 0.24 µg/L at 10 gallons, rising to 4.06 µg/L at 100 gallons. BELON meets the NSF/ANSI 53 requirement for lead reduction at a rated capacity of 50 gallons.

Reduction level: More than 99.8% with a new filter, 97% at 100 gallons, across two production units.

CHLORINE

Tested in accordance with NSF/ANSI 42, Chlorine Reduction, sampled through 100% of the filter's rated 50-gallon life.

Test date: August 2026

Reduction level: 94.7% or greater, across two production units.

PFAS / PFOA

Tested in accordance with NSF/ANSI 53, PFOA/PFOS Reduction, sampled through 200% of the filter’s rated 50-gallon life.

Test date: September 2026

Reduction level: More than 99% reduction with a new filter, falling with use to about 65% at 100 gallons. The standard requires PFOA and PFOS held under 4 ng/L through the whole test. The filter did not, so BELON does not meet the NSF/ANSI 53 requirement and makes no PFAS claim. Reduction figures use PFOA and PFOS combined, for both units.

VOC

Tested in accordance with NSF/ANSI 53, VOC Reduction, with chloroform as the surrogate, sampled through 200% of the filter’s rated 50-gallon life, which the standard requires for a filter without a change indicator.

Test date: August–September 2026

Result: Under the standard’s 15 µg/L limit at every sample point through 60 gallons, 120% of the filter’s rated life, across two production units. Breakthrough after that, with reduction down to about 70% at 100 gallons. The standard requires the limit held through the whole test, so BELON does not meet the NSF/ANSI 53 VOC requirement and makes no VOC claim.

Reduction level: 95% or greater through 60 gallons. About 70% at 100 gallons.
