OUR FILTER SYSTEM

BELON works differently from other gravity filters: there is no plastic tank. The funnel filters directly into the carafe or bottle you serve from.

The funnel comes with a filter and its stand. The carafe is optional. If you already own a carafe you love, use it.

FUNNELPolished stainless steel, 1 L / 34 fl oz capacity. An integrated mechanical drip stop lets water through only when the funnel is placed on a vessel. Designed to sit on the neck of a wine bottle, and anything larger.
FILTERWe use a pleated layer of electrokinetic nanofiber paper, made in the USA. The fibers carry a charge that captures contaminants as water passes through.
STANDIncluded in the funnel kit. Holds the funnel for storage, while you fill it, or when you want to pause filtering.
CARAFEBorosilicate glass, 1 L / 34 fl oz. Handles cold and hot drinks like tea. Comes with a solid silicone plug.

THE FILTER

BELON reduces chlorine, lead and microplastics, and leaves the minerals in, to preserve the taste. See the lab reports.

TASTE

To make municipal tap water safer to drink, chlorine is added. The downside is that it affects taste and smell. Our filter reduces chlorine to make water taste like water again.

If water lacks minerals, it tends to taste flat. Our filter is designed to keep them in the water.

SPEED

A filter is always a compromise between speed and performance. We have opted for what we think is the best of both worlds: a filter that is fast enough but still performs well. A new filter takes only 3 to 4 minutes per litre (34 fl oz). Depending on where you live, flow slows gradually over the life of the filter.

CONTAMINANT REDUCTION

We have tested the filter to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 protocols through an accredited certification body. It reduces chlorine, lead and microplastics to levels that meet the NSF/ANSI requirements. BELON is not yet certified. The full reports are on the Lab Data page.

LIFESPAN

A new filter lasts 50 gallons (190 litres), about three months at two fills a day. Replace at least every six months, even with light use.
