GETTING STARTED

Setting up Belon for the first time

Wash the funnel, stand, and carafe by hand with warm water and a drop of dish soap before first use. Then prepare the filter: [MANUAL — exact first-use steps: soak time, how many batches to filter and discard before drinking]. This first flush clears loose media dust from manufacturing — it's harmless, but your first glass should be water, not filter.

After that: fill the funnel with cold tap water, set it on the carafe or any vessel it fits, and let gravity work.

Does BELON fit my bottle or carafe?

BELON is designed to sit on most standard bottles, carafes, and pitchers — that's the point of the funnel form. It pairs with the BELON carafe, but it isn't captive to it. If the opening is unusually wide or narrow, the funnel's base geometry is [MANUAL — supported opening diameter range].

What is the drip-stop for?

You can lift the funnel mid-filter — the drip-stop closes automatically, so you can pour a glass from the carafe before filtering finishes, then set the funnel back and let it continue. No hovering, no puddles.

What is the stand for?

The stand is where BELON lives between uses: it holds the funnel upright on the counter so it can drain and dry. When not filtering, BELON sits on its base — a kitchen object, not an appliance to hide in a cabinet.

THE FILTER

How long does a filter last?

Each filter is rated for 50 gallons of water. In practice: about six months if you filter once a day, about three months if you filter twice a day. Water quality matters too — sediment-heavy or very hard water shortens filter life, which is why we state capacity rather than promising a date. When flow slows noticeably and stays slow, the filter has done its work.

How do I know it's time to replace the filter?

Two signals: the calendar (count from when you installed it — six months at once-a-day use, three at twice-a-day) and the flow (a filter at end of life runs clearly slower and doesn't recover). If you're on the filter subscription, replacements arrive on your schedule so you don't have to track either.

How do I replace the filter?

[MANUAL — replacement steps: releasing the old filter, seating the new one, whether a first-flush is needed on replacement filters as well.] Used filters go in household waste; the packaging is recyclable.

How should I store spare filters?

Sealed in their original packaging, somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. [MANUAL — confirm sealed shelf life.]

Filtering slower than it used to?

Three usual causes. First, age: a filter near the end of its 50 gallons slows down — that's exhaustion, and the fix is a replacement. Second, air: if flow drops suddenly well before end of life, set the funnel on its stand and let the filter rest and dry overnight — trapped air works itself out and flow typically recovers by morning. [MANUAL/ENG — confirm this guidance.] Third, your water: heavy sediment loads a filter early. If a filter dies long before its time, write to us with your zip code — we'd rather replace a filter than have you fight one, and your water data makes the product better.

Can I use another brand's filter in the BELON funnel?

No. The funnel, drip-stop, and filter are engineered as one system, and our published test results apply to that system only. Damage caused by forcing an incompatible filter into the funnel isn't covered by the warranty — though the warranty otherwise stands as written.

WATER QUESTIONS

What does the BELON filter remove?

We publish every lab report rather than summarize them into marketing: see the Test Results page for what our filter has been tested to reduce, under NSF/ANSI protocols at accredited laboratories, with the actual numbers and the actual PDFs. Where certification is pending, that page says so plainly.

Does BELON remove fluoride?

No. Fluoride removal requires a different filtration technology. If removing fluoride is what you need, BELON isn't the right filter.

Does it work with any water?

Cold tap water from a treated municipal supply. BELON improves water that is already microbiologically safe — it is not designed for well water of unknown quality, untreated sources, or making unsafe water safe. Don't run hot water through it.

The first batches taste or look different?

A new filter can shed a little harmless media dust — fine gray particles in the first fills. That's what the first-use flush is for; if you skipped it, run [MANUAL — number] batches through and discard them, and the water will run clear.

How long does filtered water keep?

Filtered water is best fresh. Once chlorine is reduced, water loses its preservative; refrigerate the carafe and drink within a day or so. [Confirm you're comfortable committing to this guidance.]

CLEANING & CARE

Everyday cleaning

Remove the filter first — never wash the funnel with the filter in it, and never run soap through the filter. Then: warm water, a drop of dish soap, a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse well and dry with a soft towel. Drying matters more than washing: water left to evaporate on polished steel leaves the spots you're trying to avoid.

White chalky spots on the steel (limescale)

That's mineral residue from hard water — cosmetic, not a defect, and it comes off with mild acid rather than scrubbing. Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water (or use a citric acid solution), wet a soft cloth with it, and lay it on the marks for 10–15 minutes. Wipe, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. For stubborn buildup, repeat the soak rather than scrubbing harder.

Three things never to use on the polished finish: steel wool or scouring powders (they scratch), chlorine bleach or cleaners containing chloride (they pit stainless steel), and long acid soaks (a few minutes of contact, then rinse — don't leave vinegar sitting overnight). The best prevention is thirty seconds of drying after use.

Can anything go in the dishwasher?

[MANUAL — confirm per part: funnel, stand, carafe, silicone plug. Draft assumption pending confirmation: carafe and plug dishwasher-safe, funnel and stand hand-wash to protect the polished finish and drip-stop mechanism. The filter never goes in the dishwasher.]

Caring for the carafe and plug

The carafe is borosilicate glass — it handles temperature swings, but treat it like glassware, not cookware. The silicone plug rinses clean with warm water; if it picks up odors, a short soak in the same vinegar-water mix resets it.

SHIPPING & DELIVERY

How much is shipping?

Free. Every US order ships free — no minimum, no threshold, no membership. If you're in a hurry, express options at carrier rates may be offered at checkout.

Where do you ship?

All 50 US states, street addresses only — our carrier can't deliver to PO boxes, and we can't reach APO/FPO addresses yet. International shipping, including to the EU, isn't available yet; join the email list and you'll hear when that changes.

When will my order arrive?

Orders ship from our New Jersey distribution center within 1–2 business days, by UPS. Typical transit is 2–7 business days depending on where you are, and you'll get tracking the moment it ships. If something is meaningfully late, write to us and we'll chase it.

My order arrived damaged, wrong, or not at all

Email support@belon.com — photos help for damage. We replace transit-damaged, lost, or incorrect orders at our cost, or refund you if you'd rather. You will never be redirected to negotiate with a shipping carrier.

RETURNS & THE 60-DAY TRIAL

How does the 60-Day Trial work?

Try BELON for 60 days. If it's not for you — or your water — send it back for a full refund. It covers your first BELON system order (the funnel kit and, if you bought one, the carafe), the clock runs from delivery, and any reason counts. Used is expected — you were supposed to use it. Email support@belon.com with your order number; we send a prepaid return label; your refund goes to the original payment method within 10 business days of the return reaching our warehouse.

Can I return replacement filters?

Unopened, yes — within 30 days of delivery, full refund, same prepaid-label process. Opened filters can't be restocked and aren't returnable, except when defective — that's a warranty matter and costs you nothing.

How do exchanges work?

Simply: return under the applicable rule and place a new order. If a price changed against you in between, tell us and we'll honor what you originally paid.

WARRANTY

What does the warranty cover?

The system — funnel, stand, and carafe — is covered for two years from delivery against defects in materials and workmanship. The filter is covered against defects through its rated life. Gradual slowing as a filter loads up is the filter doing its job, not a defect — but a filter that fails far short of its rated life for reasons that aren't your water is exactly what the warranty is for. The full terms live on the Warranty page.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Email support@belon.com with your order number or proof of purchase, a description of the issue, and photos. If we need the product back, we send a prepaid label — a warranty claim never costs you shipping in either direction. We repair, replace, or refund.

FILTER SUBSCRIPTION

How does the subscription work?

You choose one or two filters every six months, and they arrive so you don't have to think about it. Before every shipment we email you the date and amount with one-click links to skip, reschedule, or cancel — nothing renews silently.

How do I change or cancel my subscription?

From your account on belon.com, or the link in any subscription email. Skipping, pausing, rescheduling, and cancelling are all immediate for any shipment that hasn't been billed — no fees, no phone calls, no retention scripts. Filtering twice a day? Set the two-pack cadence, or pull a shipment forward anytime.
